Dr. Henok Alemu got his Ph.D. degree in Geospatial Sciences and Engineering in 2015 under the supervision of Dr. Gabriel Senay and Dr. Michael Wimberly. His PhD dissertation focused on contemporary evapotranspiration dynamics and drivers in the Nile River Basin in Africa using satellite-derived and model-assimilated data. Henok holds a B.Sc. degree in Geology from Mekelle University in Ethiopia and a Professional Masters degree in Geoinformation Science & Earth Observation from the University of Twente in the Netherlands. He also holds an M.Sc. degree in Photogrammetry and Geomatics from Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences in Germany. Henok has worked as an assistant lecturer in Mekelle University and as a graduate research assistant in South Dakota State University. He's also worked as a visiting scientist and consultant for the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and as a research intern for Stinger Ghaffarian Technologies, a Contractor to USGS EROS Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Henok has more than 7 years of research experience in spatial sciences and remote sensing with emphasis on hydrological and ecohydrological applications.
