Research Interests: biomass burning emissions, multi-source data fusion
Fangjun Li is a PhD student at GSCE started in spring 2014. He is working with Dr. Xiaoyang Zhang on the estimation of biomass burning emissions (trace gases and aerosols) released from wildfires which have significant impacts on climate change, carbon cycle, and air quality. His research mainly focuses on the fusion of Fire Radiative Power (FRP) derived from polar orbit satellites and geostationary satellites in order to improve the qualification of near- real time biomass burning emissions at regional and global scales.
Before coming to Brookings, Fangjun Li had worked as an engineer for 3 years in Institute of Remote Sensing and Digital Earth (RADI), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Beijing, China. He received a MSc degree (major in Geographic Information Science and Cartography) from RADI, CAS in 2010. He earned a BE degree (major in Geomatics) from Central South University, Changsha, China in 2007.
