Monika graduated from the Department of Geoinformatics and Remote Sensing, Faculty of Geography and Regional Studies, University of Warsaw in 2010. She also completed post-graduation study at the Warsaw University of Technology, subject: “Geographic Information Systems”. She has been working as a researcher in the Remote Sensing Center in the Institute of Geodesy and Cartography, Warsaw from February 2011 to December 2015.

From 22.06 to 22.12.2013 Monika was an intern in the NASA funded project entitled: „Storms, Forms, and Complexity of the Urban Canopy: How Land Use, Settlement Patterns, and the Shapes of Cities Influence Severe Weather" at GSCE, South Dakota State University, USA. 

Monika has been awarded in 2015 an SPIE Optics and Photonics Education Scholarship by SPIE—The International Society for Optical Engineering.

Her main research interest is focused on the applicability of Remote Sensing techniques in the Environmental Studies.
Currently, she is working on the project How Environmental Change in Central Asian Highlands Impacts High Elevation Communities (NASA LCLUC; PI: Henebry).
She is also actively involved in the NASA SCERIN network (
