Dr. Wright is a landscape ecologist with research interests in wetland ecology, synoptic monitoring of environmental trends, applications of graph theory to conservation planning, and food webs. He has worked largely in wetland and grassland systems - mostly focused in North America and Central Asia - in both pristine settings like Yellowstone National Park and highly managed agricultural landscapes like the Northern Great Plains and Kazakh Steppe.

Dr. Wright holds a B.A. in Biology from Williams College, with an M.S. in Agronomy and Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from Montana State University.  Before joining GIScCE, he was a National Research Council Postdoctoral Associate at the USGS Center for Earth Resources Observation and Science (EROS).
