On Monday October 15, Dr. Alistair Smith, Assistant Professor of Forest Measurements in the College of Natural Resources at the University of Idaho presented “Remote sensing of fire severity and intensity”.
On Monday September 24, Dr. Xiao Qin, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at SDSU presented “Spatial analysis of road weather safety data using a Bayesian hierarchical modeling approach”
On Thursday September 20, Dr. Don Wilhite, Professor of Applied Climate Science and Founding Director of the National Drought Mitigation Center at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln delivered the second Annual Virginia & J. Edward Holtry Distinguished Lecture in Geographic Information Sciences speaking on the timely topic of “Managing Drought Risk in a Changing Climate”
Dr. Wilhite also spoke at the GIScCE on “Drought Early Warning Systems: Complexities & Prospects”
