Midekisa Awarded NASA Grant

Alemayehu Midekisa (advisor Dr. Mike Wimberly) has been awarded a NASA Earth and Space Science Ph.D. Fellowship (NESSF) starting in 2010/2011 for a proposal titled "Integrating Multi-Sensor Satellite Data for Malaria Early Warning in the Amhara Region of Ethiopia". Alemayehu is one of only 57 awardees who were selected from a 331 total applicants. The purpose of the NESSF is to ensure continued training of a highly qualified workforce in disciplines required to achieve NASA’s scientific goals. Alemayehu’s success is reflecting of his hard work as well as GIScCE’s continued success in training and mentoring graduate students in remote sensing science and applications.
