Francis Dwomoh, a GSE Ph.D. student advised by Dr. Mike Wimberly, was awarded a 2014 NASA Earth and Space Science Fellowship for his research proposal entitled Vulnerability of Protected Areas to Human Encroachment, Climate Change and Fire in the Fragmented Tropical Forests of West Africa. The award is initially for one year and is renewable for up to two additional years. Only 54 out of the 410 proposals submitted under Earth Science Research were funded - a success rate of 13%.
