NASA Grant to Distribute Global WELD products via the internet [2012-01-04]

David Roy and Indu Kommareddy have been awarded a NASA Advancing Collaborative Connections for Earth System Science grant starting in Spring 2012.  The existing NASA funded Web-enabled Landsat Data (WELD) project has demonstrated the potential of large volume Landsat data processing to provide continental scale 30m Landsat data products in support of the Landsat user community. Under NASA MEaSUREs funding an intuitive what you see is what you get (WYSIWYG) WELD product Internet distribution interface was developed using open source software and was ported to the USGS EROS with currently more than 400 registered users (http://weld.cr.usgs.gov/). Their new grant will seek to support commonly articulated outstanding user requirements for (1) provision of the WELD products in different map projections, (2) expansion of the WELD product distribution to global scale, (3) support of Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) compliant WELD products.
