Congratulations to our recent GSE graduates!

Dr. Francis Dwomoh successfully defended his dissertation entitled “Vulnerability of protected areas to human encroachment, climate change and fire in the fragmented tropical forests of West Africa” on March 14. Prof. Mike Wimberly has been his dissertation advisor.

Dr. Milkah Njoki Kahiu successfully defended her dissertation entitled “Satellite remote sensing of woody and herbaceous leaf area for improved understanding of forage and fire in Africa” on March 15. Prof. Niall Hanan, currently at New Mexico State University, has been her dissertation advisor.

Dr. Christoffer Axelsson successfully defended his dissertation entitled “A study of African savanna vegetation structure, patterning, and change” on April 25. Prof. Niall Hanan, currently at New Mexico State University, has been his dissertation advisor.

Francis and Njoki will officially graduate this spring and Chris this summer.
