Observing the Anthropocene: Challenges and Opportunities

Dr. Ellis will conclude the Fall 2013 GSE Seminar Series (“Geospatial Science and the Anthropocene”) with a suitably titled talk “Observing the Anthropocene”.  Ellis is professor of  Geography & Environmental Science at UMBC and is currently a visiting professor at Harvard. He is one of the originators of the term ‘anthrome’ and a leading figure in assessment of human impacts through land use on the biosphere now and over several millennia.
